The Logical Thing To Do
- Dont get me wrong: embryos are technically human, though the emotional link thats associated with the word is wrong. This is what's wrong with KonstantineLove "Think of it this way: would you kill your child (and yes I refer to the baby as a child and not a fetus because it is a living thing" They aren't children! They are embryos (which are alive).Thinking of an embryo as an adult or a child is like thinking of an acorn as a tree. Obviously I have no problem with embryonic stem cell research, Hell, if you want to, use embryos from early misscarrage/abortion that are destined to go anyway. I used to be Christian, I'm not so sure about God any more. But if he exists, I am what I am because of him, and its cause of him that I don't believe any more. We are as he made us, though, so can I really be punished for not believing? I guess I'll find out one day,,or not. :

The Logical Thing To Do
- I agree on the use of embryonic stem cells for research. Embryos are not conscious, they are not self-aware and therefore, they are caused no pain by the fact that their existence is ended in the name of science. Pretty much all pro-lifers eat meat. This meat came from an animal, which was once had a life of its own. It was somewhat conscious of its existence (which is not true for embryos) and yet, people eat it to survive. Is this really very different from the use of embryonic stem cells? They are being used for research, so that one day, they will be of major benefit to people. Would you tell a scientist with Parkinson's disease, researching using embryonic stem cells that what he is doing is wrong when you would go home later that night and have a nice steak for dinner? Just a bit hypocritical. What makes the life of a brainless microscopic human more than that of say, a cow? People place too much worth on embryos when they think of them as people.

I want you to prove me wrong.
- I must totally dissagree with Antichrist and Tired of Religous Crap. Do you have any kids? Think of it this way: would you kill your child (and yes I refer to the baby as a child and not a fetus because it is a living thing. Sure it depends on another human being, but don't we all?) to let science experiment with them in hope of finding a cure for a man with Parkinsons disease? I know I wouldn't. The means don't justify the ends. Ever. Not when it comes to murder. Especially of children who can't even have the choice of life or death. So yes, it has something to do with "religious crap" but there's conflict in your Constitution when you say everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; then you go around and allow murder for science. I guess I'm just as stubborn as you, but I know I'm trying to save human lives. How many lives can you save with science? In the end, everyone dies. What will you have to prove with your science? I have my God.

religion isn't the answer to everything
- People, could we please not bring religion into every issue that involves the life of another? I'm sick of hearing "This is what God would do" or whatever. First off, there ARE other religions. What makes you think that yours is 100% correct and that others are not? Second, if someone is suffering, hanging on to life through the use of some machine, if there was some way to help them get their life back, wouldn't you want to help them? Many of these stem cells are LABORATORY FERTILIZED. This means that if not for the laboratory, the egg probably wouldn't have been fertilized in the first place. The fertilized egg exists for science, and science only. If allowed to develop, it would have no mother, no father, nobody. I'm not saying that the fertilized egg isn't a person, I'm just asking: Who would you rather save? A few days old egg that isn't even truly aware of it's surroundings, or a dying person with family, friends, and something to live for in need of new organs?

No God
- Guys, just leave Mike alone and go back to your Religious falsities. They use 3 day old embryonic stem cells, at that time it's only 150 cells total. It's not harming anything, and "mama", the gender is not even decided for weeks of the pregnancy. Get off your high horses and think with logic, not what "the good lord" in the clouds thinks you should believe.

Too higher price to pay
- I've been researching the ethics surrounding embryonic stem cell research and the processes involved, and I simply can not understand how people can consider that the possible results out weigh the costs! This is not a pro-life concept by any stretch of the imagination! I understand that people are exploring all avenues in an attempt to save lives, and I don't at all disagree with this, but not at the price of another life (and let us not dispute that embryos are life, all be it in the early stages). This is especially wrong as adult stem cells can be used, and even better, the stem cells derived from the umbilical cord blood as they have so far proven to be just as useful and versatile as any embryonic stem cell. And as an added bonus don't come at the cost of someones life! Therefore, not only is the use of embryonic stem cells not even remotely pro-life, it is also a completely unnecessary loss of life for what can be achieved with a far lesser cost!

Pro Life: What It Actually Is.
- Obviously, mMike has no idea what pro-lifers stand for. Pro-life is to help the living in any way possible? Pro-life is for the life of the living forever and ever? Mike, you are so wrong. Pro-life is regarding the PERSON in the womb. Pro-life is acknowledging that life begins not when it can live on its own, but when that sperm and egg meet. You said: An egg isn't a person. It can't even breathe yet. It depends on too much. Think on this: a person (suffering form a disease) is breathing through the help of a machine. Without it, they "would surely die".... is that not a person? Just because it needs help to survive doesn't mean its not a person. Do not pretend you know what pro-life is about if your stubborn view is only from the perspective of a pro-choice person.

Preserving Existence as God Intended!
- Mike, you're wrong, God intended for us to live and to die. If someone falls ill with sickness, it is not up to man to kill a living being in order to perserve one who may be at the end of his life. The word of God tells us to call upon the elders of the church, if sick, to pray for healing, and they shall be healed. But also remember everything must align with God's will. If someone is meant to live on earth forever, then it shall be that. Now in saying that, I will say that I believe the adult stem cell is a good resource. But the embryonic stem cell: that is killing; it is life and it is breathing. Life is precious in every form. God bless!

So many things wrong
- There are so many things wrong with this statement. Just because science can do something, should it? We are meant, by our Creator, to be responsible with our actions and to love all our neighbors, particularly the small and defenseless. Should we be creating life in a petri dish? And yes, at the moment when the viable sperm and the viable egg meet, a new life begins. When a mans son, let's call him Mike Jr. is growing in his wife's womb, is he any less a son at 1 hour or 1 week than he is at 9 months? As for statements made by Guest Mike, many countries are at zero population growth. Young girls wouldn't be "sent into poverty or suicide" if the men who chose to have intercourse with them were real men and refrained from having intercourse until they were capable of a committed, loving relationship that could support offspring. The only perfect world is Heaven, in the meantime we should strive to stay within the commandments given us by the Father of us all.

Preserving the Existing
- It is preserving existing life. The human egg cannot survive on its own. It would need to be put into a carrier (mother) and developed. If they were just to leave it, it would surely die. Pro-Life is that you are for the living. There are too many people having babies anyways. Why make the system even worse and why send more young girls into poverty or to suicide? They should donate them to science, and be recognized for helping find those cures. Pro-Life is to help the living in anyway possible. They are here and the deserve a chance to make the world a better place. An egg isn't a person. It can't even breathe yet. It depends on too much. Let's help heal the world and make it a better place. Pro-Life is for the life of the living forever and ever. God Bless the World! For those religious ones, Adam and Eve already ate the fruit, so now we must strive to find the knowledge that God has given us. We have to find it now.
