Should illegal immigrants who have been working and living in the U.S. and paying U.S. taxes for at least three years be offered a path to U.S. citizenship? Why or why not? If yes, with what conditions? (i.e. paying a fine, wait two more years, pass a citizenship test, learn English, etc.) Share Your Thoughts
No amnesty or path to citizenships
- Look what is happening to America because of massive illegal immigration, They tend to jump themselves to the front line to many things, leaving Americans second in line in their own country, Any kind of path to citizenship is amnesty and will allow Mexico to just take over America. Let's face it: in reality, they are sneakily conquering America, And they are accomplishing this with all of their strategies and excuses, and all of their advocates are helping them to succeed in conquering America, Sure, they seem to be kind people, but they are also sneaky, bold, rude, and nastily aggressive, and are allowed to just spit and walk all over Americans, Amnesty will allow Mexico to be in America, and a living hell for Americans! Americans will be forced to live in this new-found Mexico in America! Our own politicians are willing to allow them to change our Constitution, our laws, rules, and regulations for their own purpose, This is so unfair!

Nope, and here is an analogy
- If I broke into your house and demanded that you pay for my kids food, education, college tuition, And oh, by the way, any children I have on your property become citizens of your property... you would think I was nuts. You would call the police and have me deported from your property and jailed. You definitely would not let me pay back rent and be automatically entitled to your family's benefits.

They should
- They just want to live a better live. What's up with ignorant people these days?
- —Guest jennis
Absolutely
- In my opinion, Mexicans try twice as hard to be good citizens than the people who are here legally. I am a 21 year old white man, and I've worked with just about every race, and Mexicans, especialy illegal Mexicans, work way harder than anyone. The only way they take American jobs is because one Mexican does the work of two residents. I think legalizing them would be one of the best things that happened to this great country. We all are immigrants unless you were a native-born Indian, so people need to stop being so prideful. We are all equals in God's eyes. What have Mexicans done to anyone anyway? They just want a better life for they're family, and isn't that what everyone wants? If you think you're better than a Mexican, then being that prideful only makes you ten times worse. Stop judging people twice as good as you who have done nothing wrong and ask yourself why you feel like that.

NO WAY!
- All you have to do is take a look at California. Get the picture: if all of you want to be living in abject poverty like Mexico, let them all come in and break the bank. I don't have anything against Mexicans, but I think the starving people of Africa are in worse shape and you don't see us letting them in. It's the big corporations thinking we don't have to pay any benefits, the taxpayer will take care of that. Wake up people. Or you will lose your country.

Law breaking is wrong
- If any one breaks our laws, it is wrong and needs to be punished as per right and wrong. Americans did work here with little problem, but then, illegal aliens were allowed to take their jobs, An American could not get a job because minimum wages are too high. Great reason for over 30 million illegal aliens to come here, which breaks dozens of our laws plus use our system, steal, cheat, steal, on and on. There is no reason to give criminals the right to stay here, even ones who have taken our jobs for 3 years. Giving amnesty between Reagan and Bush, now Obama, we have over 3 million criminals made legal and who can still keep our jobs. One of our laws should be as follows: If it hurts the American people it is wrong and must be stopped now. The only ones who want them here are the businesses who are using them, and they lie when they say no American wants the job. That was a lie to start with. It's been seven years now, so that some 6 million Americans have forgotten.

Illegal Immigrant
- Yes I do believe that there should be a pathway to citizenship. It is really hard when a native born American is in love with an immigrant. There is a lot of pain and suffering. And at times you think why stay in this relationship. Then you realize that the love is too strong to let go. And the fear of deportation kills my heart.

- Why should we reward a criminal act with amnesty? In just 7 states, illegal aliens cost U.S. taxpayers approximately 26 billion dollars per year. Education, incarceration, time in local jails, trial cost, lost jobs for American workers, documents printed in English and Spanish because they do not assimilate. California spends 9 billion per year, Texas spends 4.7 billion per year, New York spends 5.1 billion per year, Illinois spends 3.5 billion per year, Florida spends 1.7 billion per year, Arizona spends 1.3 billion per year and Pennsylvania spends 728 million per year. Not to mention false documents and some government entitlements. Do you think we can afford to add 10 to 20 million illegal aliens to our economy? I don't, and if you use common sense you wouldn't either. I say deport them and let them enter legally like everyone else.

Why Should Mexicans Get an Advantage?
- There are people from all over the world who want to live in the U.S. Some wait ten years or more. Why should those from Mexico be allowed citizenship simply because they were able to sneak over, but someone from, say Africa, has to wait years and years? If you can't allow everyone in the world who wants to live in the U.S. that chance (and you can't: that many people would put a strain on our resources and drop the standard of living for us all), then why should people who broke the laws get first priority, while people who played by the rules continue to wait?

U.S.A.
- The usa is supposed to be a free country,so why do we have to tear children away from their families, especially if the parents are hard workers and make sure they take care of their children? This is a country that should not treat people like they are some kind of animal. We're all humans made by the same God; we're all supposed to love one another. The immigrants are the only one's who will get out in the hot sun to pick our vegetables, and plant our trees, while the Americans are dependent on the government.About 90 percent of immigrants only come to the U.S. to better the lives of their families, but yet we should turn them away if they're in a life threatning situation? And then, what happens to the children who were born here? The government has to take care of them. Why not just leave immigrants alone as long as they have no police records, and are hardworking people?

Yes,they should!
- There are a lot of hard-working immigants who want to do something with their life.Who are you people to say NO to something what can make this country better.USA has people from everywhere. Just because someone was born in USA does not mean that they have more rights that someone who is working 2 jobs, has been paying taxes for 10 years, has never been in trouble with law,got married 5 years ago, and had a baby 18mo. ago. And still after 10 years of hard work, and a house loan she got with her husband, and the cars they have together, facing deportation.Tell me people how is this right. The negative answers that I saw above just upset me.You people have no idea what you are talking about. You are just too stuck in YOUR American world. It is sick.Everybody should have a chance to make their lives better. After all, America IS for everybody.

Yes, They Should
- i just want to say that Mexicans don't think they are better. It is racist people who pick on the Mexicans because there are more of them now. i go to school in a community where there are lots of Asians, Africans, Hispanics, and whites. There are criminals in every race, so I'm tired of hearing the excuse that Mexicans just cause trouble. I agree that there should be some type of guidelines so that it,s not an automatic citizenship. In an earlier post someone said how it took THREE years to get his wife to the U.S. Can you imagine not having your wife or husband or children with you for a whole three years? This is why so many people cross illegally: because it is too much money and takes too much time. Think about it now people...

Moratorium on All Immigration
- The USA needs a moratorium on all immigration, especially illegal aliens for at least 5 years so America can back on track. The 15 million illegals who work in the USA should be sent home, so the 15 million unemployed Americans can get their jobs back. Deport not support, it's the law. Secure all borders tightly and close all the gateways. American taxpayers spend 95 BILLION on illegal aliens YEARLY!!! Illegal aliens from Mexico kill over 35,000 White Americans YEARLY. Crime goes up 70% when illegal aliens swarm into an American town. Bring in tons of dangerous drugs DAILY! Why just help illegal aliens from Mexico only, USA has way over our quota of Mexicans, why is our government treating only illegal aliens from Mexico like gold, with gold?? What happened to helping even our own poor people? The law says, send them home, it's not a bad thing. DEPORT! Especially when they get out of prison from committing crimes in the USA. SEND THEM HOME!

Ill pay my debt.
- I am a U.S. citizen who believes in the laws of this country. If you do the time, you do the time. I have a wonderful family, and my wonderful wife is undocumented. I don't let her work so as not to use a fake ID. The law changed some years back so that if you marry an illegal immigrant, she/he may face 10 years of deportation, due to all the fraudulent marriages. I pray that the laws allow real families a pardon so that we can go on with our lives. If My country doesn't want us here, then I am willing to face the music. I am willing to pay a fine. I don't want to raise my kids in Mexico If I don't have to. It's a nice vacation, but there is no future for me. I also know many young people who don't even speak Spanish, who were raised as Americans, who happen to be illegals. These children came against there will and are victims. Many are great students and deserve citizenship. Many of these children didn't even know they were different until they tried to get a job.
- —Guest Stackbuilt
YES OF COURSE THEY SHOULD!
- To those thinking of all illegal immigrants as mexicans, I am sorry, but not everyone who immigrates to the U.S. is from Mexico. Yes, there are a lot of people from Mexico in the U.S. who are probably the most hard working people here. For that reason, I believe that if they pay taxes and have good moral character, they should get a chance to U.S. citizenship
