If you do something, finish it!

Truthfully, I believe the Iraq war is a fat joke. We're spending around 5,000 dollars on this war every second and accomplishing nothing other than killing more people. However, I think that we've already spent WAY too much money and there have been too many casualities to just call it quits. I strongly suggest that the U.S. troops finish what they're doing, and then help the people in Iraq build their houses and mend their wounds before leaving. This way, we can at least say we got something done.

Its a goddamn mess

We all believed the WMD line, we all believed Saddam was wicked and something had to be done. Now we have killed far more innocents than Saddam did and the proof is, there were no WMD to begin with. We liberated women from religious and cultural slavery, built schools and hospitals, but by doing so we stirred up a hornets nest of hatred by the religion and culture that oppressed them. Now if we pull out there will be a vacuum and the backlash against the people who have gained anything will be yet another slaughter. Bottom line, we are damned if we do, and damned if we don't. Its a godamn mess.

Fight terrorism, not other countries

War is the worst answer to fighting terrorism because it will breed more terrorists. These are terrorists who are obviously not even afraid of blowing themselves up and the US army is trying to kill them? That does not make sense. They are a different breed altogether. But, it's a small group of people who are brainwashing other people too. It has nothing to do with what Islam teaches; they use religion to wield power they do not have. If the aim is to solve the problem of terrorism, then let's find a solution using brains and not guns. As far as reforming the country is concerned, leave that to the country; it is not anyone's job to put another country straight.

Never Ending Story

A lot of people say troops must stay in Iraq to bring peace and fight the insurgents. The truth is the peace got broken with the arrival of foreign troops, and the insurgents exist to fight the occupation. There was no terrorism in Iraq before the invasion. There were no insurgents before. All the problems Iraq has now are thanks to the so-called coalition forces. The war will continue as long as Iraq is occupied by foreign aliens.

Too Costly

I would be entirely for the war if it were not so incredibly expensive. It is draining our economy and is adding to our enormous debt. And as you can tell from the stats, the number of terrorists is only increasing because of our unwanted presence there. We simply don't have the lasting resources to continue fighting a war that has no end in sight. Remember the Romans? They tried to do the same thing; they spread themselves out so far for so long that they eventually collapsed. If we do not pull out of Iraq, I fear the same for the United States.

Take them out!!!!

I think we should take the troops out of Iraq and Afganistan right now. It's not our war to be fighting. Its a waste of money and men, kinda like the Vietnam war. It's a total waste of our tax money. TAKE THEM OUT NOW! Think of all the families who have a brother or sister, a mother or father, or a close friend overseas, and how would you like it if you wouldnt know if you were ever going to see them again? TAKE THEM OUT! This war is a total waste, and i'm 14 and I can still realize that. =/

stay

The war is keeping stability in the Middle East. And without the war the economy would still be horrible and we were already in a great amount of debt before the war came.

politics

A perfect example of political maneuvering. Obama wants to be president so what does he do? Tells the American people what they want to hear. "Oh okay, I'll pull our men out in a couple of years and everything will be OK." A complete lie. This isn't me ragging on our president. This is me ragging on politicians in general. They lie and make hollow promises so they can get what they want. I don't vote because of this. Sure, the people (Democratic or Republican) stand for certain things-good things- and this and that or the other. But this is only a sham. They want to pluck your heartstrings so you can put them in power. Don't get me wrong, the majority of these politicians are good people with good intentions, but it's the methods that they use to achieve power that get to me. Politics in general is a farce of democracy.

Read the Numbers

This is all so complex and filled with much hype. The iraqi people are NOT better, we'd all love to believe that they are, but they are not. They don't have education, they don't have running water, they don't even have proper sewage systems. Innocent civilians have died, maybe even more than hundred thousand- and we say that isn't a lot because of what? Because we are so callous... Yes- I believe the troops are brave women and men- they are devoted to our country. But this war is not for the reasons that they think it is. Bush started it for reasons that we will never know which had nothing to do with Saddam Hussein being a terrorist. It doesn't make sense. Is U.S. committed to rebuilding Iraq? if not- then it is not so noble a cause- and I would say it is a failure!

Stop meddling other countries' politics

I hope that after this great mess the USA has created in the Middle East and cant seem to get out of, U.S. leaders have a meeting and make a new law that the U.S. should not meddle with other countries politics from now on.That they should keep to themselves and mind their own buisness. They should stop trying to be a world police.

Who Knows!

This whole thing with Iraq is a little whack! Iraq is in a civil war and we're right in the middle of it. It's been going on for years! The only reason we're fighting is because they were our ally in something or other war. And what's up with us selling weapons to the enemy! Hello! You're not helping it any better. I can honestly say, though, that I have no idea if we should pull away or keeping fighting. If we keep fighting than people will die; if pull away people will die; either way people will die. Except most likely if we pull away, they will come to us. We either fight on their land or ours!

War is Wrong

Did you notice all foreign countries left? Regardless, WE have no business over there. It's draining the US and killing innocent soldiers. Our soldiers are dying for what cause? Oil? That's why Wolfie, Rumsie and Cheney were there. The NEOCON's were wrong and all of us paid for this. Why is it American to kill Saddam? Did you know he killed innocent people with chemicals he bought from Rumsfeld USA? You are not going to change this country. WE are throwing lives and $$ out the window. Shame Shame, exactly what are you fighting for? Tell me why are we the only country there fighting? You know, it generates major business for Halliburton and other American companies. Billions upon billion a month. WE are spending 12 billion a month and we can't afford American Health Insurance? Something is wrong with this picture. Canada no wars, everyone has health insurance.

Jeannie

We are spending an extra $66 billion for the surge under Obama. Anybody that reads the news can tell the money is needed here in U.S. Plus, reading Stones into Schools, 131 schools have been built in Afghanistan, and only one school damaged, and the locals took care of the jerks because they want their children educated. Why don't we do the sensible thing and help that country, not kill our own troops and people over there? I think this continuous war is stupid and mean.
—Guest Jeannie

STOP THE WAR

A lot of people have already died in this war, and yet we see no change. Instead the economy is bleeding. I think this war wasn't supposed to happen in the first place, because the U.S. had no reason whatsoever to intrude in other people's business. I think the U.S. is nosy and should learn to mind its own business. A lot of innocent people are dying, especially children who had nothing to do with it. Stop the outrage before it is too late.
—solitudeus

By the way...

Think about it this way: We withdrew from the Vietnam war even though we had an opportunity to move into Communist China, because we were "losing too many troops", we ran away from Korea because the people didn't like us there, and the Gulf War wasn't even a war, we just pretended like we cared so it would make us look good. Even in WWII, we didn't do anything until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Then we got all offended and attacked Germany under the pretenses that they were becoming too powerful. So this war is the only war we started that we have a chance of actually finishing. So let's not screw this one up too, shall we?
