President John F. Kennedy - National Archive Photos of His Presidency

35th President of the United States, Jan 20, 1961 to Nov 22, 1963

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was 35th President of the United States from January 20, 1961, when he was sworn into office, until his death by assassin's bullet in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.

Although Kennedy, 43 years old when elected, was president for less than three years, his brief term was uniquely memorable for many reasons, including dramatic foreign policy events pressures, Kennedy's charisma and public popularity, his photogenic young family, and the glamourous style of President and First Lady Jacqueline "Jackie" Kennedy.

The series of unique photos from the National Archives captures special moments during President Kennedy's term in office, from his swearing in on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building to his historic funeral procession through Washington D.C.
