Reason #3 - McCain is a Pro-Life Extremist
John McCain's boast of being staunchly pro-life is borne out by his decades-long voting record: he is rated 0% by NARAL, the political arm of the pro-choice movement and a strong advocate of reproductive freedom and choice.
McCain's extremist position on abortion was evidenced again at the third '08 presidential debate when he shockingly scoffed even at the importance of considering a woman's health as a factor in late-term abortions.
And that was hardly the first time he's voiced that cold, hard ideological view, even though a woman's health is considered a viable, legal reason for an abortion under Roe v. Wade.
Per an ABC News/Washington Post poll taken in January 2008, 57% of all Americans believe that abortion should be legal in "all" or "most" cases. And a far higher percentage of non-Republican voters support abortion.
Abortion is an important wedge issue that separates many, but not all, Republicans from the rest of American voters.
And it's likely to be the single issue that most causes independent and women voters to not vote for John McCain for the presidency.
