President-elect Barack Obama, a Democrat, won nine states... Florida, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina... that voted for Republican President George W. Bush in 2004. The various reasons for these red states turning blue in 2008 are powerful, important and may portend future voting trends.
