Peter Jennings Buzz Sweeps the Blogosphere

Several blogs, including conservatives Ramblins' Journal and Michelle Malkin write today of "unconfirmed reports from sources inside ABC News, that World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings is close to death."

Jennings announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer in April, and has not been on the air since. Anchor duties have rotated between several anchors.

Rusty Surrette, a morning TV anchor in Beaumont, Texas, blogs at Rusty's World , "There is rumor this morning on several TV industry websites and blogs the general managers at select ABC affiliates have been put on 'death watch' for ABC news anchor Peter Jennings. Keep him in your prayers." This rumor was also reported at Wikipedia.

Peter Jennings has been the ABC evening news anchor since 1983. He's been a respected and vital part of US political reporting for more than two decades, although he's occasionally been accused of adding a "liberal bias" to the news.

I pray that these rumors are unfounded, and wish Mr. Jennings and his family strength and peace in these tough times.
