Iraq War Statistics and Spending Info as of August 12, 2007
As the U.S. Congress takes a month off... as President Bush vacations at his Texas ranch... as Iraqi parliament members escape their country's scorching August temperatures for cooler summer sojourns in Dubai, Iran, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Great Britain... the news in Iraq for U.S. soldiers, Iraqi citizens and 2.1 million destitute Iraqi refugees gets grimmer and grimmer.
Reports the New York Times today:
"The toll in a horrific quadruple bombing in an area of mud and stone houses in the remote northern desert on Tuesday evening reached at least 250 dead and 350 wounded, several local officials said Wednesday, making it the deadliest coordinated attack since the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003."

Lately, I don't agree with CNN's outspoken Lou Dobbs on many issues, but I certainly support his lament two days ago:
"The idea that our president, this Congress take time off when we have men and women dying in Iraq, Afghanistan ... there's something at best unseemly about it.."With all the issues, serious issues confronting the country, they should be hard at work."
