When Will We Follow Our Gutsiest, Most Visionary Senator, Russ Feingold?
When, oh when, will we start following the lead of our most courageous, most visionary leader in the Senate, Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin?
Sen. Feingold had the guts and uncompromising love of the U.S. Constitution to be the ONLY U.S. senator to vote against the USA Patriot Act of 2001.
In October 2002, he urged Congress to vote against U.S. invasion of Iraq when he exhorted:
"Both in terms of the justifications for an invasion and in terms of the mission and the plan for the invasion, Mr. President, the Administration's arguments just don't add up... "
On August 21, 2005 , Sen. Feingold became the first U.S. senator to call for a specific U.S. withdrawal date... December 31, 2006... from Iraq.
And on March 13, 2006, Russ Feingold delivered a bold, passionate speech demanding Senate censure of President Bush for breaking United States law.
But thus far, we've not followed Sen. Feingold's visionary leadership. And he was absolutely correct in each instance.
Today, I received the following email from Sen. Feingold:
"On 'Meet the Press' this morning, I announced that I will introduce two censure resolutions aimed at holding President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and other administration officials responsible for the destructive path down which they've taken our country."It's clear to me, and millions of Americans, that the time has come for accountability - on everything from the disastrous war in Iraq, to refusing, time and time again, to follow the rule of law. Members of Congress can no longer stand by and allow the White House to shred the Constitution, and thumb their noses at the American people."
At this desperate time in our country's history when we openly lament for strong, principled leaders, when will the U.S. finally follow the lead of our gutsiest, most visionary senator?
I suggest now! I vote a resounding YES to Congressional censure of George Bush and Dick Cheney.

I am very proud to be a constituent of Senator Feingold, however, I think he shares the title of gutsiest, most visionary member of Congress with Dennis Kucinich.

The only thing “Feingold” is brave at is protecting Israel, his homeland.
