Round Two of 2008 Humor: Pick Hillary's Campaign Tune

Thursday May 24, 2007
In the funniest and most fun event of the 2008 Democratic campaigns so far, Sen. Hillary Clinton shows unexpected warmth and likability on video at the Hillary for President website as she asks:
"We've seen an incredible response to our campaign song contest! Your votes narrowed down the choices and we've added your top suggestions.

I tell you this for two reasons.

First, have a great, relaxing time listening to the 10 second-round tunes by U2, the Temptations, Smash Mouth and Shania Twain as well as new voter-nominated choices by Lenny Kravitz, the Police, Celine Dion and the great Tina Turner. And cast your all-important vote, of course.

Second, on a more serious note, this wildly popular campaign online event (more than 125,000 first-round votes cast) is a major, positive turning point for Sen. Clinton and her image as wooden and overly serious. Mark my words on that! Her hilarious video is very effective.

On a separate note, take the time to read my new article, Hillary Clinton's New Orleans and Gulf Coast Recovery Plan, which summarizes her plan she outlined in a speech to New Orleans community leaders on May 18, 2007.

What I like about Sen. Clinton's 10-point proposal to reconstruct New Orleans is that it's thoughtful, detailed, smart, practical, doable... and inspiring!

And it's obvious that she really plans to rebuild New Orleans and its culture... unlike President Bush's empty rhetoric and outright lies to the American people about restoring New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

Book: Clinton did not read intelligence report before Iraq war vote
A new biography of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton suggests she did not read a key national intelligence document before casting her October 2002 Senate vote to authorize the war in Iraq.

An advance copy of the book, “Her Way: The Hopes and Ambitions of Hillary Rodham Clinton,’’ by New York Times reporters Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta Jr., was obtained by The Washington Post, which highlighted parts of it in Friday’s edition.

In an e-mail exchange Friday with Gannett News Service, Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines repeatedly declined to directly address the report that Clinton did not read the 92-page National Intelligence Estimate.

“Senator Clinton was briefed multiple times by several members of the administration on their intelligence regarding Iraq, which included the classified aspects of the NIE,’’ Reines wrote.

In addition, Clinton’s spokesman pointed out “this has been covered and written about.’’

Reines cited several media reports, including an April 27, 2004, story by The Washington Post that found “no more than six senators and a handful of House members read beyond the five-page National Intelligence Estimate executive summary, according to several congressional aides responsible for safeguarding the classified material.’’ That story never mentioned whether Clinton had or had not read the report.

Copies of the report were available at the Capitol prior to the vote for Senate and House lawmakers to read in a secure room without any of their staff present.

Jeff Gerth is a schill.

Do you trust George Bush with your kid’s lives?
If you do then you’re an idiot.
