Obama: Cleanest Democrat in the 2008 Race, and I Don't Mean His Bathing Habits

It's official. Barack Obama is the cleanest Democrat in the 2008 presidential race, and I'm not referring to his bathing habits.

I say this because headlines today breathlessly trumpet... Gasp!... Obama's repayment of 20-year-old parking tickets. Seems that before he declared his White House intentions, Sen. Obama wisely doubled-checked his own history to ensure that no debts were unpaid and no loose-ends were inadvertantly left dangling.

And there it was in Cambridge, Massachusetts: a $140 loose-end in the form of 17 unpaid parking tickets (13 in one month in 1988) dating back to the senator's days as a Harvard law student. Gasp! On January 26, 2007, the senator's staff settled his debt with the city of Cambridge by paying the $140 plus $260 in late fees.

Hillary Clinton has the the miraculous 1996 reappearance of Rose Law firm records long-sought for legal proceedings related to a shady land deal; mysterious involvement in the Whitewater land scandal; and a sure but undefined hand in the 1993 firings of the White House travel office, and questionable use of FBI background files.

Oh, and don't forget neophyte-investor Hillary Clinton's 1978 1000% cattle-trading profits that surpassed the records of even the most experienced investment brokers.

John Edwards has a couple eye-brow raising real estate deals (see here and here .), and there's a slimy article today that, in stellar Swift Boatian style, reports that the 2008 campaign of extrovert Gov. Bill Richardson "has been burdened by unusually public discussion about his behavior with women."

But "they" scoured Obama's background for dirt... and for "they," the possibilities range from the media to Republicans or Democratic rivals, including the rumored source, Hillary Clinton's camp... and all "they" found were 20-year-old parking tickets?

Forget the 2008 presidential candidate roster. If that's the worst dirt "they" can find on Barack Obama, he may have the most spotless personal record in America.

Get a life, people, and get serious! We have a country to save.
