It's obviously a gross understatement... or delusionary misstatement... when President Bush says his Iraq War policies are "not working well enough, fast enough."
It's obviously correct when Secretary of Defense nominee Robert Gates agreed today with Sen. Carl Levin, incoming Armed forces committee chair, that "We are not winning the war in Iraq" and that "the status quo is not acceptable."
And it's obvious that with ever-escalating violence and deaths, the radical deterioration in the quality of life for Iraqis, and the vicious hornet's nest of rivalry between the Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds... that the Bush Administration's unprovoked attack on and occupation of Iraq has ignited a massive Civil War in that country.
Oh, and if you haven't yet heard, President Bush plans to ask Congress in February 2007 for another $100 billion to $125 billion for the Iraq War, plus a small portion of it for Afghanistan.
If approved, the President's request for another $100 billion in war funding would bring total US taxpayers' funds for the Iraq War fiasco to over $600 billion.
Just imagine the good, or solvency, the United States could have accomplished with that wasted $600 billion...
