Take the Pledge to See Al Gore's Film This Weekend

Wednesday May 24, 2006
Have you taken the pledge yet to see Al Gore's global warming film this weekend when it opens nationwide?

Unless you've devoted all your attention to American Idol, you know that it's called "An Inconvenient Truth " and it was the hot-ticket of both the Sundance Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival. And Al Gore, the former Vice President of the US who used to be parodied as excessively dull, has emerged as a political rock star with charisma, purpose and a growing campaign chest.

Larry West, About.com's Guide to Environmental Issues reviews "Inconvenient Truth" gives the film his top five-star rating. Writes Larry, "In 'An Inconvenient Truth', Gore combines objective scientific evidence, humor and personal insights to create a powerful 80-minute exploration of what he clearly believes is the most critical issue of this or any other time in human history....."

Here's Larry recommendation: "Bottom line: Go see this movie. Take your family, take your friends, and then recommend it to everyone you know."

Let's all support Al in his bid to tell the world the truth about global warming. CLICK HERE to take the pledge to watch "An Inconvenient Truth" anytime between today, which is opening day, through Memorial Day on Monday.

UPDATE - I was just sent a group-email copy of Al Gore's promotional tour for the next month. Mark your calendars for these dates: "Mr. Gore will appear on The Today Show in an interview with Katie Couric Wednesday morning, May 24, and will be interviewed by Tom Brokaw on NBC Nightly News in the evening. On Thursday, May 25, he will appear at Town Hall in New York City. Mr. Gore will be interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR's "Fresh Air" on Tuesday, May 30, and will appear on CBS' The Early Show with Harry Smith on Wednesday, May 31.

Mr. Gore will appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday, June 8, and on The View on Monday, June 19. He will appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Friday, June 23. In addition, Mr. Gore will make at least a dozen more major national appearances to promote the book. He is slated for book-signings in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Nashville, Houston, Vancouver, and other major cities."

Just to let you know, some people can pay attention to American Idol *and* know the state of the rest of the world, too.

And yes, I plan to see this. There is also a MySpace site for the movie (http://www.myspace.com/aninconvenienttruth), which means it will reach a LOT of people. Tagline in its ad–”The Most Terrifying Film You Will Ever See.” And the founder of MySpace urged users to see it–this from a company that was recently bought out by Rupert Murdoch of Fox News! :-)
