Gallup Poll: Hillary Clinton vs. Rudy Guiliani in 2008

Friday December 16, 2005
CNN is reporting that "If the results of a recent poll pan out, voters will see two big names from New York on the ballot in November 2008. Those names are Democrat Hillary Clinton, the state's junior U.S. senator, and Republican Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City.

The CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Thursday indicated Clinton and Giuliani were the early favorites to win their respective party's nomination."

In the poll, Democratic Senator Clinton outpolled her two nearest potential competitors by nearly 30 percentage points. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) and former Senator John Edward (D-NC) each garnered 14 percent of Democratic poll respondents.

Giuliani garnered 30 percent of Republican votes to 22 percent for Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and 18 percent for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Senator Hillary Clinton is presently focused on running for 2006 reelection to the US Senate, and has not declared her candidacy for the presidency.
