Joe Lieberman Thumbs Nose at Democrats Over Iraq

Tuesday November 29, 2005
Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CN) is up for reelection in 2006, but unlike many politicians, he's not one to play it safe merely to garner votes. This week, though, Lieberman, one of the Bush Administration fiercest hawk supporters of the War in Iraq and who has made 4 trips to Iraq in 17 months, almost seems to be thumbing his nose at the Democratic Party as it prepares for crucial 2006 elections with fervent hopes of capturing many new seats in Congress.

Reports the Hartford Courant newspaper today, "Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, just back from Iraq, wants President Bush to give the American people details about the progress being made in that country - from military triumphs to the proliferation of cellphones and satellite dishes.....

...Lieberman, D-Conn., who spent Wednesday and Thursday in Iraq, saw strong evidence that a workable American plan is in place. 'We do have a strategy,' he said. 'We do have a plan. I saw a strategy that's being implemented'...."

Kos at DailyKos has a similar post today, "Lieberman Out of Touch."

Which brings me back once again to my article, The Unknown Joe Lieberman: 20 Surprising Facts About the Democrat Who Angers Democrats.

It's a safe bet is that the Yahoo user group. DumpJoe, that asks ""Had enough of Joe Lieberman playing both sides of the aisle? Sucking up to Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly on FoxNews?"...will gain some new members this week.
