Celebrate the Season: Give to US Troops, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest Food Banks
Here is a short list of ways you can honor and give to fellow Americans and our great country this Thanksgiving 2005....and please know that I am deeply thankful for you, my readers.
-- Support our US Troops A master listing of hundreds of organizations supporting the troops, including support for military families; help for the wounded; sending packages, gift certificates, letters and messages; homes for disabled troops and much more. The American Red Cross In addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers compassionate services in five other areas: community services that help the needy; support and comfort for military members and their families; the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs.
Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity brings together people with resources and people in need to build simple, decent, affordable houses for the homeless and poor. Habitat has built and sold (at no profit) more than 175,000 houses, providing shelter for more than 900,000 people worldwide.
Second Harvest Second Harvest distributes food and grocery products through a nationwide network of 200 food banks, increases public awareness of domestic hunger and advocates for policies that benefit America's hungry.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
