New Buzz Word for Bush Greedy Spending Priorities: TruffleGate
I sat here today, listening to oil company executives argue to justify historical-level profits while the poor can't afford gas for heating this winter. Listening to Republican members of Congress who argue for lavish new tax cuts for multi-millionaires, while cutting food stamps for millions, health care for 25% of American children, ending school lunches for 40,000 school kids, and substantially cutting benefits for US veterans.
TruffleGate. It has a greedy, gluttonous, disgustingly selfish ring to it.
Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) dubbed it "Taking from the needy to give to the greedy." Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) decried it "an absolute disgrace." Congressman Kendrick Meek (D-FL) beseeched, "How can this happen in America?"
This from an administration that calls itself moral? That proclaims itself Christian? It makes me weep for what our country has become under George Bush. This is very, very wrong.
