Global Warming to Cause 50 Million Refugees by 2010

Friday November 4, 2005
"Scholars are predicting that 50 million people worldwide will be displaced by 2010 because of rising sea levels, desertification, dried up aquifers, weather-induced flooding and other serious environmental changes brought on by global warming and the resulting climate changes." writes Larry West, About.com's Guide to Environmental Issues.

The United Nations University "says that environmental problems already have contributed to large permanent migrations and could eventually displace hundreds of millions of people. Meanwhile, Red Cross research shows more people are now displaced by environmental disasters than by war" Larry continues at his fascinating article, Scholars Predict 50 Million Environmental Refugees by 2010.

Yes, all caused by global warming, which President Bush still refuses to acknowledge as reality. My article, US Refuses to Sign Pact to Stem Global Warming, provides a simple, clear explanation of global warming, as well as US failure to sign the international agreement on global warming, the Kyoto Protocol.

About.com's Environmental Issues site has excellent in-depth articles on global warming and its impact, including What Causes Global Warming? and What Are Greenhouse Gases?

And please...take the time to read Scholars Predict 50 Million Environmental Refugees by 2010.

Isn't it time we elected representatives who give a damn about the environment, and about the future of mankind on this planet, rather than just corporate and personal profits?
