Eliot Spitzer Update: Landmark eBay Pact, Possible New 2006 Opponent
"State law specifically prohibits possession of stun guns and related weapons," Mr. Spitzer said in the statement. "This agreement will help ensure that the internet is not used to facilitate illegal activity." New York, along with Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin, are the only states that presently ban stun gun sales.

Eliot Spitzer continues to be the front-running candidate in the New York state 2006 gubernatorial race. Reported Quinnipiac University last week, "State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer buries any of four possible Republican contenders for New York State Governor by margins of 2 - 1 to 4 - 1....
In possible matchups between Spitzer and possible Republican opponents, the independent Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters finds:
Spitzer over Randy Daniels 60 - 15 percent;
Spitzer over Thomas Golisano 56 - 22 percent;
Spitzer over William Weld 60 - 16 percent;
Spitzer over John Faso 60 - 14 percent."
However, from blogger Working Families PartyMan comes new word of another possible Spitzer opponent in the 2006....
"How much does Ken Langone hate Eliot Spitzer? So much so that the billionaire financier is telling friends that he is looking to raise tens of millions of dollars to finance a long-shot candidate to challenge New York's corporate-crime busting attorney general in his race for governor in 2006, NEWSWEEK has learned.
So Langone is going to back (Tom) Suozzi in a Dem primary against Spitzer despite the fact that Langone is a Republican. Hmmm, a billionaire meddling in politics, I'm sure all the Republicans will be against this just like they were against Soros spending his money. I won't hold my breath waiting for their outrage."
In this era of headline-grabbing corporate white-collar crimes, Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is widely admired, both in New York and nationwide, for his driving, deeply-held passions for consumer affairs, environmental protections, civil rights and public safety.
It's hard it imagine that Mr. Spitzer won't be the next Governor of New York. In fact, it's hard to disagree with another high-profile Democratic governor, Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico and former UN Representative, when he unequivocally declares Eliot Spitzer as "the future of the (Democratic) party."
