Lifelong bachelor, 67 year old Mayor Jerry Brown of Oakland, CA, was married Saturday to Ann Gust, former GAP executive, in the Oakland Rotunda building. Mayor Brown, of course, was twice elected governor of California and unsuccessfully ran three times for the Presidency.
Performing the ceremony was US Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) who intoned "How fortunate you are to have found each other." In attendance were former Governor Gray Davis and former speaker of the state Assembly and former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.
Always one to lead the pack in new, cutting-edge ideas, Jerry Brown may be the first mayor of a major US city to maintain a blog where anyone can directly leave unfiltered, unedited comments for the mayor. Jerry Brown has always been "part of the conversation."
